Professional Experience

Ian spent 16 years with Sainsbury's in various food and non-food technical management positions, latterly managing technical and product development of the grocery and snacking areas, accounting for over £2b of sales, 10,000 products, and involving relationship management of 450 suppliers.

Ian has extensive experience of managing serious product incidents. He is a member of the Fairtrade Standards Committee, a former member of the DEFRA Pesticide Residue Committee and was involved in the inception and launch of Assured Produce and Global GAP.

David has spent nearly 20 years in food and farming, working throughout the supply chain. He has gained wide experience in technical management and growing of fresh produce in protected and open field scenarios. Originally from a livestock farming background, David has a good understanding of primary agricultural systems.

She is also involved in the technical analysis of companies, trouble shooting and helping to develop technical strategies.

Also several roles within Tesco – as QA Manager within Distribution depots and also as an auditor for the PIU team. More recently Technical Director for a produce import company – Sydney Hart.

Mary has more than 20 years’ experience in food retail and manufacturing industry, including 5 years as an independent technical consultant and 15 years at Sainsbury’s Supermarkets managing and developing technical teams covering food safety, supplier approval and new product development. Mary is an experienced Interim Technical Manager within private label and branded grocery for multiple retail supply.

Amongst other roles, Yigal worked with Agrexco for 34 years, leading the QA team for 13 years. During this time he was responsible for preparing and guiding growers to ensure they and their packhouses met retailer requirements.
